What do you enjoy most/what do you find most interesting about your research topic?
My research topic focuses on a better understanding of the strategies used by prehistoric communities for the occupation of their territories—particularly, how the choice for site implantation was related with the natural surroundings, but also with the economic, technological, and social activities carried out by those populations.
How does citizen science support your research?
I believe that it is truly important to involve citizen scientists in several aspects of the archaeological research because this is a way to integrate new perspectives, based on very different life experiences, in the reconstruction of the behaviors of past hunter-gatherer communities.
What is one of your favorite moments in the field?
It is hard for me to choose a specific favorite moment in the field, since I truly admire every single aspect of the archaeological fieldwork. From the discovery of a new site, to the starting of the excavation, to the recovery of every small bit of evidence of our remote past—these are all astonishing and very gratifying moments for me.
