Syllabus
Class 1: Course Introduction and Climate Change Overview
Following a brief introduction, an Earthwatch Environmental Educator will explain the key drivers of climate change and what the latest research tells us. An Earthwatch scientist will share data from their own investigation into the impacts of climate change.
Class 2: Climate Change Impacts: Ecosystems and Biodiversity
Employees will learn about the impact climate change has on ecosystems and how biodiversity is being affected by climate change. After this class, participants will better understand the role of climate change in degrading and destroying habitats and biodiversity, and the implications of those losses for human health and wellbeing.
Class 3: Socio Economics of Climate Change
This class will focus on the connections between climate change and communities around the world. Employees will explore topics such as agriculture and food systems, the onset and spread of diseases such as COVID-19, and environmental justice.
Class 4: Climate Change Solutions and Actions
Employees will discuss climate change solutions, such as green infrastructure, as well as individual steps they can take to combat the crisis. They will also develop a sustainability action plan to help them make an impact at home and at work.

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS
Earthwatch depends on donations—above and beyond what we raise from volunteers who participate on our expeditions—in order to deliver our global conservation mission. In fact, volunteer contributions provide only half of the total resources Earthwatch needs to sustain over 40 field research expeditions, a wide variety of educational programs, corporate sustainability trainings, and more each year.
