Partnerships in Action

.

For over 50 years, Earthwatch has been connecting people to the natural world to help scientists understand and conserve vulnerable environments around the world. With the support of our many partners, we have been able to expand this work, building leadership skills in students, educators, employees, and members of the public, empowering STEM leaders, and supporting sustainable business practices. When you partner with Earthwatch, you team up with an organization that has over five decades of experience and many thousands of success stories.

I am so thankful for the experiences I have gained during this Earthwatch expedition. It helped me to get a deeper understanding of the current changes and damages going on in the world. As a result, I have decided to connect with my like-minded colleagues and strive to create a better, more sustainable working environment.

Teachers

Through our education programs, such as Teach Earth and Project Kindle, we have empowered over 5,500 teachers. The reach of these programs is multiplied as teachers return to their classrooms where they will each impact between 300 and 1,000 students over the course of their careers. These opportunities transform the way students learn in the classroom, allowing teachers to change hearts, minds, and career opportunities.

This experience has made me a better teacher in that it has shown me that science is not just about the colossal, the comprehensive, and the exhaustive, but also about the gradual and meticulous, the small-scale and the local…I feel empowered to help my students participate in citizen science and see their role in the scientific community as important.

Students

More and more young people are speaking out and eager for the opportunity to learn and take action to combat the greatest environmental challenges the world has faced. However, many schools lack the funding and expertise necessary to foster this interest and empower those students to pursue STEM studies and careers. Through our student programs, Earthwatch has given more than 5,000 students the opportunity to engage with science and transform their career paths.

.

The experiences, lessons, and personal growth I gained during this expedition have shaped me into a more resilient, empathetic, and environmentally conscious individual. I am eager to continue my pursuit of knowledge, and with this Fellowship, I am confident that I can create a lasting impact in the world.

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Earthwatch depends on donations—above and beyond what we raise from volunteers who participate in our expeditions—to deliver our global conservation mission. In fact, volunteer contributions provide only half of the total resources Earthwatch needs to sustain over 20 global field research expeditions, a wide variety of educational programs, corporate sustainability trainings, and more each year.
